TIPS

These are some tips that have been sent to me....

If you have a tip or trick that works for you & would like it included here
let me know!

To add a little "ambience" to cymbals....insert an EQ with the lows and some mids cut followed by some reverb. This will only put reverb on the higher frequencies and allow the cymbals to breathe. This is particularly helpful if you have to mix the cymbals with other parts of the kit because it seems to work on them even after mixing them to a subgroup.

Most people don't like to, but if there is an inordinate amount of bleed to the snare mic, mic it from the bottom. This allows better control of gate attack and release during mixdown because it isolates the other drums from being picked up by the snare mic.
